CHAP User access authentication is used to restrict access to the iSCSI targets. The iSCSI initiator (host) is authenticated by the iSCSI target (volume).

When an initiator tries to connect to a target, it provides a user name and password to the target. This is an initiator authentication, that ensures the connection security.

To use it, specify the name and CHAP target secret (user password). These credentials have to be set also on the initiator side to connect to the target settings.

Click the APPLY button to save.

To set a new Password for the user, click the OPTIONSEDIT USER.

The CHAP USER ACCESS AUTHENTICATION can also be modified in the settings of each separate target from the STORAGE main tab:

iSCSI TARGETEDIT TARGETCHAP USER ACCESS AUTHENTICATION.

NOTE

Password must consist of at least 12 characters and cannot contain whitespace characters.
If users forget their password, there is no way to retrieve it. You can only set a new password.
